Alvina Dirkse

DIRKSE, Mrs. Alvina "Jeanette" Kalamazoo, MI Died Saturday morning September 5, 2009. Jeanette was born May 1, 1924 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a daughter of William and Jennie Walhout Corstange. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was a member of Trinity Reformed Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald P. Dirkse on June 13, 2006; 5 brothers, Bill, Pete, Jacob, John, Adrian; and 3 sisters, Nellie, Marie, and Dorothy. She is survived by 3 children, Tom Angie Dirkse of Prattville, AL, Barbara John Vella of Troy, MI, and Tim Dirkse of Portage; 4 grandchildren, Tracy Mark Johnson, Danielle Vella, Grant Vella, and Paige Vella; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Teresa Johnson and Betty Andy Smith all of Kalamazoo; a brother, Donald Dena Corstange of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8pm Tuesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
