Alice Potgiesser

POTGIESSER, Alice Of Kalamazoo Alice Potgiesser was born December 24, 1919, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Alko and Bessie Koopman Hoogerman, and went home to be with her Lord on January 10, 2011, in Kalamazoo. She was a member of Centerpoint Church and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. On December 12, 1936, she was united in marriage to Harm Potgiesser, who preceded her in death on July 6, 2000. Also preceding her in death was a son, James Dale Potgiesser and two sisters, Henrietta Mejeur and Winnie Kuiper. Surviving are two children, Karen Tim Buis of Portage, Larry Marianne Potgiesser of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Robert Emily Flegal, Megan Jeff Campbell, Nicholas Potgiesser, Andrew Buis Beth Clark, Rachel Glenn Smith; great-grandchildren, Madalynn and Allison Flegal, and Jackson Campbell; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Potgiesser, Shirley Potgiesser and Dorothy Potgiesser; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday, January 13th at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, where a service to celebrate Alice's life will be held 11:00 AM Friday with Pastor Adam Potgiesser officiating. Interment will be held in West Cooper Cemetery. Memorials in Alice's memory may be directed to Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
