GARDNER, Alfred
of Kalamazoo Passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011. He was born May 28, 1929 in Evergreen Park, IL, a son of Leo and Alma Simon Gardner and was a long time resident of the Kalamazoo area. During his working years, Alfred was employed by M & T Battery and Electric and Farnsworth Chevrolet. After retiring, he worked for Longjohn Flowers, as a delivery person. Alfred was a member of the Lawrence Masonic Lodge, # 119, where he had served as the Worshipful Master and was a Life Member of the Lodge. On August 15, 1948, he married Jean Coffinger, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Raymond Mary Gardner of Comstock, Craig Sue Gardner of Nashville, MI, Larry Donna Gardner of Comstock and Sharon Jim Den Hamer of Kalamazoo; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Lois Ted Martin; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. with Pastor Kenneth Johnson officiating. Interment will take place in Hill Cemetery, Lawrence on Monday at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Friday, from 6-8 PM and on Saturday, beginning at 1:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Borgess Foundation for the Cardiac Unit and Cardiac Rehab Program.
