Passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the age of 66. Jim was born March 10, 1951 in Kalamazoo to the late Sam and Fredrika (Hansen) Nuyen. An outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jim was a family man who was always there for his family. He enjoyed spending time outdoors whether working in the yard or sitting on the porch visiting with friends and family. Jim is survived by his nephews, Frederick Nuyen, Sam Nuyen, Dale Rutherford; niece, Teresa Hartselle; sister, Gertrude (J.D.) Rutherford; brother, John Nuyen; sister-in-law, Nancy Nuyen; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; and cousins. Jim was preceded in death by brothers, Johan (Lois) Nuyen, Fred Nuyen, Garrett Nuyen, Sam Nuyen and Bill Nuyen; and sisters, Sina Rutherford and Minnie Flegal. Arrangements by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Memorials may be directed to the family for continued care for Freddy. There will be a celebration of life on August 19, 2017 at 3:00 pm, held at 6423 East L Avenue, Kalamazoo Michigan 49048. If you wish to bring a dish, please contact Teresa at 269-344-9858.
