Tom passed away early Thursday morning, September 21, 2017 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence from heart and kidney failure. He was born on Oct 6,1930 in New London, CT. After attending Chapman Technical High School, he graduated from Northeastern Univ. with a BS in Chemical Engineering and a MS in Organic chemistry. He subsequently graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY with a Doctorate in Physical Organic Chemistry. Tom met and married his beloved wife, Helen, in Troy, NY. He joined the Upjohn Co. in 1960 and spent 30 years in the Infectious Disease and Biological Screening units where he rose to Associate Director of Research. Tom had been a member of the American Chemical Society and The Society of the Sigma Xi. He retired in 1990 and spent a number of years participating in Oshtemo Township government as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Board of Trustees and the Downtown Development Authority. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Rose Brodasky and sister, Joan Denison. Tom is survived by his dear wife of 57 years: Helen; his beloved children which gave him much pride and happiness: his treasured son Stephen and daughter in law Lisa, his joyful and loving daughter Susan, his wonderful grandchildren Thomas R and wife, Lindsay Brodasky, and their daughter Briella Brodasky and Nicholas and Christopher Brodasky. He also has several nieces, nephews and cousins in Troy, NY and New London, CT. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services were held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northeastern University Alumna Association, Kalamazoo County Animal Services and Enforcement or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
