Passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the age of 71. Stan was born April 28, 1945 in Kalamazoo to the late Henry and Jessie (Kiel) Free. Stan was employed with General Motors for 32 years as a press operator and retired in 1998. He loved the outdoors and he was an avid fisherman. Among his other interests included deer hunting and an occasional trip to the casino. Stan is survived by his sister, Julie (Jeff) Whelan; his girlfriend, Barbara Tazelaar; sister-in-law, Judith Free; and several nieces and nephews. Stan was preceded in death by brothers, Ron and Larry Free. The family will greet friends on Monday, March 20th from 10-11 am at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. A private burial will be at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Stan's name may be directed to the American Heart Association.
