Sally Ann Sterk

December 5, 1942 — March 6, 2017

STERK, Sally Ann
1942-2017

Two soulmates were reunited in eternity on March 6, 2017. Sally was born in Kalamazoo, the only child of Leonard and Doris (Hamburg) Vind on December 5, 1942. Her mother, was also an only child and whose parents lived two doors down the street in a predominately Dutch neighborhood. The values, traits and religious beliefs they instilled remained with her throughout her life. Sally's determination led her from University High at the age of 16 years old to Western Michigan University where she met Keith Sterk between classes. Little did Keith and Sally know that his roommate was seeing Sally's good friend. They soon became a foursome. The shores of Lake Michigan were several couples favorite hangout where many good times were shared and lifelong friendships developed. After Sally and Keith's marriage in 1961, they moved to Janesville, WI where Keith worked for General Motors. Keith introduced Sally to his high school buddies and strong friendships were developed. Their first child Shelly was born in Wisconsin before they moved to Ann Arbor, MI in 1964. There seemed nothing that Sally couldn't accomplish; from enriching her children, which now included her son Kraig, with a religious upbringing by being active in Zion Lutheran Church. Sally enjoyed traveling with the kids; was active in her political views; involved in charitable activities; while providing the best home environment and opportunities for her family while being a caregiver. She was also proud about being in Real Estate and earning her Brokers license. Sally's health declined after the death of Keith in 2008. Her belief that they would someday be reunited kept her strong and able to carry on, which she knew Keith would have expected of her. She loved her children and grandchildren, "Michael-Michael" and "Miss Marla" McCormick; their father Tim (deceased); and Zachary and Jena Sterk; their mother, Aleese Nutter Sterk. Christian graveside services have taken place in Kalamazoo. Expressions of sympathy may be given to the charity of your choice or to Wesley United Methodist Church, PO Box 431, Whitmore Lake, MI 48189, where Keith and Sally worshipped after moving to Whitmore Lake in 2000.
