Died Wednesday evening April 12, 2017. Russ was born August 28, 1958 in Lansing, Michigan a son of David and Barbara (Knachel) Jarvis. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life. Russ was a master builder, owner and operator of Jarvis Builders for 36 years. Russ was also a licensed charter boat captain operating on the Great Lakes, his boat was named Fin Nailer. Russ loved his family, loved his friends and loved his sports, racing and especially hunting and fishing. Russ will be greatly missed. Russ was also a member of the Otsego Masonic Fidelity Lodge #513. He was preceded in death by his father, David Jarvis; and a niece, Nicole Hildebrand. He is survived by two children, Lauren (Ryan) Fleming of Augusta and Ryan (Nicole) Jarvis of Brooklyn, NY; two grandchildren, Lucas and Emmett; his mother, Barbara Jarvis of Deming, NM; a brother, Ronald Jarvis of Grays Lake, IL and Carol (Tim) Hildebrand of Martin, MI; best friend, Laura Walker; two aunts, Ruby (Bob) Levin and Lorna (Harley) Quillet; nieces and nephews, Joshua and Richard Hildebrand and Kalle and Harvey Jarvis; and several cousins. A memorial gathering will be held 5-7 pm Monday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Private burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the National Park Service or to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
