Ronald Lawrence Telfer peacefully passed away in Portage, MI on Monday, May 8, 2017. He was 79.

Ron, or Bud as he was known to some, was born on March 18, 1938 in Kalamazoo to Lawrence and Maxine Telfer. He married Delores Wilson on May 11, 1962 and they resided in Galesburg, MI their entire lives. Ron was a skilled carpenter from an early age and had a part in building many homes and businesses in his community. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He was especially proud of his hand-carved wooden spoons. He was also a good cook with his chili recipe being most memorable.

Ron Telfer is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Koni and Ken Maat of Slidell, LA; his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Tom Perigo of Richland, MI; his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Heidi Telfer of Holt, MI; his step-brother, Dennis Abnet; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Delores; his sister, Joan Telfer Collier and step-sister Jeanne Abnet.

A service will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007, on Friday, May 12 at 4 p.m. with visitation from 3-4 p.m. Burial will follow at Roof Cemetery in Climax, MI. The family welcomes you to come as you are and celebrate Ron Telfer's life with them.
