Marland Veryl Davis, age 96, passed away December 8, 2017 at his residence. Marland was born May 14, 1921 in Otsego, MI, the son of David and Ida (Slocum) Davis. During WW II, from 1943-45 he served overseas in the US Army. For over 32 years, he was employed with Consumers Power Company, retiring as a gas supervisor. Marland enjoyed fishing, bird watching, and working in the gardens. In 1941, he married Winifred (Roberts) Davis, who preceded him in death in 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Marlene Russon; a grandson Donald Russon; and siblings Wanita Davis, Winona Paul, Zonna Newman, Kenneth, Benajah and Kieth Davis. Surviving are his son Meryl (Dianna) Davis; son-in-law Ray Russon; four grandchildren Marla Schwartz, Tami Martin, Darla Russon, David Davis and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 13th from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway; where services will begin at 11:00AM. Interment with military honors will follow in Comstock Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
