Lena Meeuwse, age 81, passed away July 5, 2017 at Bethesda Ranch in Portage, MI. Lena was born May 22, 1936 in Decatur, MI, to the late Dennis and Haddie (Bosma) Van'tZelfde. On February 13, 1959, she was united in marriage to Anthony "Tony" Meeuwse, who preceded her in death on February 24, 2016. She was a long time member of Netherlands Reformed Congregation. Lena is survived by her sons, Daniel Meeuwse and Mark (Crystal) Meeuwse; a sister Stella Kesting; a brother Dan Van'tZelfde; sister-in-laws Mary (Tony) Bolle and Nettie Meeuwse, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lena was preceded in death by a brother Ben Van'tZelfde. The family will greet friends on Thursday, July 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave., where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Herman Hofman officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Texas Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lena's name may be directed to Providence Christian School or to Bethesda Ranch.
