Passed away Wednesday morning, May 24, 2017. John was born August 30, 1927 in Wilkes-Barre, PA the son of John and Agnes (O'Donnell) Toole. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. John was a graduate of Kings College, class of 1950, where he served as the college's first Alumni Association President. Prior to his retirement he was employed with the Upjohn Company for 42 years, ending as the Worldwide Director of Government Affairs. John was a member of St Augustine Cathedral and was an avid Notre Dame football fan. On April 28, 1951 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Kral who preceded him in death on October 6, 1990. He was also preceded in death by a son, Kevin Toole; and a brother and 2 sisters. On October 16, 1993 he was united in marriage to Patricia, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Michael (Marybeth) Toole, Jack (Zadie) Toole, Patrick Toole, Gerriann (Doug) VanderHorst, Ted (Carrie) Toole; daughter-in-law, Candace Toole-Quisenberry; grandchildren, Stephen (Brandy) Toole, Mike (Kristen) Toole, Jason (Vanessa) Toole, Meg Toole, Hannah Toole, Taylor Toole, Andy (Jessica) Toole, Erin (Tyler) Horton, Derek VanderHorst (Kendall Mintus), Rachel Toole, Ryan Toole; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Interment will be at a later date in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Augustine Cathedral or Heartland Hospice.
