Jackie passed away on June 1, 2017 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit after a short battle with cancer. She was born on April 4, 1949. Prior to retiring from the City of Kalamazoo public works department in 2012, she owned and operated Ports of Call party store in Mattawan. Jackie touched the lives of countless people.
She was referred to as "Mom" by many and "friend" by many more. She had a way of showing her love through her nurturing qualities and zest for life, not to mention her sassy ways. She very much enjoyed camping, mushroom hunting, racing and many other recreational activities with her family and friends. She was never able to drive by a casino without stopping and never missed a soccer game or a BMX race. She truly enjoyed life, people and especially her grandsons. Jackie will be incredibly missed and would have loved to have said goodbye to everyone in person. Please honor Jackie's memory by performing a random act of kindness, hug someone like you mean it, share a laugh with a friend or have a cocktail. Remember, it's the little things in life that mean the most.
She was the daughter of Clifford and Beatrice Jones. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jeannine Schwab. Surviving are her two children, Sara Frimand and her fiancé, Mike Lansdale of Paw Paw and Steve and Jennifer Hippensteel of Mattawan; two grandsons, Jacob and Thomas Hippensteel; Mike's son Seth Lansdale; a sister Linda Creeden; a brother, Bob and Carol Jones; and nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held from 4 - 8pm on Friday, June 23rd at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Please join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, June 24th from 1 - 6pm at 42900 County Road 653 in Paw Paw by having a pig roast. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
