Ellen passed away at the age of 81 on Monday evening, June 12, 2017 at Kairos Hospice in Kalamazoo and surrounded by her family. Ellen was born on July 20, 1935 in Comstock, MI, the daughter of Lewis and Sena (Hoppa) Combs.

She truly enjoyed life, people and especially her family. She enjoyed crocheting and making blankets. She also enjoyed cooking and watching Western movies. Ellen will be incredibly missed and would have loved to have said goodbye to everyone in person. Please honor Ellen's memory by performing a random act of kindness, hug someone like you mean it, share a laugh with a friend or have a cocktail. Remember, it's the little things in life that mean the most.

Ellen is survived by her children, Gail (Joe) Fuentes, George (Roberta) Pelletier, Jr., Elizabeth (Timothy) Morris, and Mark Combs; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sister, Shannon Halsey; several nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; and many great-great nieces and nephews. Ellen was preceded in death by her siblings, Lewis Combs, Jr. and Kathryn Frye and great grandson, Adam Boers Jr.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family gathering on June 15, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Langeland Funeral Home. A memorial/celebration of life gathering will be held on July 16, 2017 from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm at River Oaks County Park (Oak Grove Shelter). Please bring a dish to pass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ellen's name may be directed to Kairos Hospice.
