Eleanor Warren

Eleanor Warren, age 83, of Portage Michigan entered into heaven's choir on January 18, 2018 after battling melanoma. Eleanor was a member of Pathfinder Church (Originally known as Portage First United Methodist Church). Eleanor had been a church choir member for over 65 years and a member of the Susanna Wesley Circle. Eleanor was proceeded in death by her parents, Wilma and Charles Warren, and her two sisters, Dr. Mary Louise Hunt (William) and Betty Ann Wolbers (Robert). Eleanor was born in Kalamazoo MI on January 24, 1934. She spent her entire life in Portage Michigan. Eleanor graduated from Portage Public Schools at a time when autism was not recognized and Special Education was not utilized. She miraculously dealt with those issues plus poor balance, sight in one eye and drastically poor hearing. Eleanor was a remarkable cook and avid reader and lived independently for the last 24 years of her life. For years Eleanor was a common sight in Portage riding her bike or walking. She would often ride the bus to the mall and walk miles back home. She loved to be outdoors and going places. Even as she aged she was still out and about with her cane, and walker. Eleanor leaves behind a great aunt, Lorna Johnson, her niece, Sharon (Michael) Pendola, and nephews, Daniel (Janice) and Thomas (Christine) Wolbers. A memorial service will take place Saturday, February 3rd, 11:00am at Pathfinder Church, 8740 S. Westnedge, Portage, MI., where friends may meet the family from 10-11am just prior to the service. Brother Donald Wolfgang will be officiating. A light luncheon will follow the service at the church. Family interment will be at the Portage Central Cemetery in the spring. Flowers and memorials may be directed to Pathfinder Church.
