Cleo passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 in Galesburg, MI at the age of 85. She was born on November 1, 1931 in Traverse City, MI a daughter of Lee R. and Matilda E. (Klinkner) Nichols, Sr. Cleo received her associate degrees in accounting and computer programing from Kalamazoo Valley Community College and then began a long career as an accountant in the Kalamazoo area. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and very active with the Girl Scouts as a leader and troop developer. Cleo was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lee R. Nichols, Jr.; and a daughter, Jeanne O'Mara. She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth (David) Bourg of Alabama, Susan (John) Newcomb of Illinois and Julie (Jeff) Durham of Delton, MI; three grandchildren, Hayden and Matthew Durham and Claire Newcomb; a sister, Whyoma (Curtis) Davis of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family will gather for a time of remembrance at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, on Friday, September 8th from 3-6pm. A memorial service will be held 11:00 Saturday morning, September 9th at First United Methodist Church, 212 S. Park Street, with Rev. Dan Duncan officiating. Private inurnment services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan Kalamazoo Regional Program and Training Center, 601 W. Maple Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
