Alta Peekstok

November 22, 1920 — April 11, 2018


Went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, April 11, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Peekstok, in 1984 and her brothers, Robert and Nelson Borden and sister, Ruth Yaw. Alta is survived by her son; Ronald (Dede) Peekstok of West Palm Beach, Florida and two step-sons, Robert (Sesta) and Duane (Eleanor) Peekstok of Kalamazoo; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a countless number of her dearest and closest friends. Born on November 22, 1920 in Kalamazoo to Ernest and Nellie (Smith) Borden, Alta worked for Ralph M. Ralston Auto Parts and the Kalamazoo Board of Education. Alta was a Charter member of Greenwood Reformed Church and an active member of Parrish United Methodist (FL) and Palms West Presbyterian (FL) churches. She sang in church choirs for over 70 years. Alta and Charles moved to Florida in 1980. Alta was an avid knitter and crafter, giving away numerous sweaters, blankets and afghans over the years. More recently, she knitted hundreds of booties and bonnet sets for newborns in the migrant communities of Florida and orphanages in Guatemala. Services will be held 2 o'clock Monday, April 23rd at the Langeland Funeral Homes. Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Visitation will be 2-5pm Sunday, April 22nd at the chapel. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dementia Society of America, P.O. Box 600, Doyletown, PA 18901, www.dimentiasociety.org .
