Norman D. Langeland, President
Graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School, did pre-mortuary science study at Western Michigan University, graduated from Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in 1960. Member of the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, Michigan Funeral Directors Association. Past-President of Kalamazoo Sertoma Club, Member of Heritage Christian Reformed Church. Married to the former Bonnie Ewing, son Greg Langeland and daughter Lisa Baas are both active in the operation of the family funeral homes. |

Gregory N. Langeland, Vice President
Graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School and Worsham College of Mortuary Science. Greg is also a Member of Michigan Funeral Directors Association. Greg lives in Portage and has two children, Tyler and Haley, and enjoys all sports activities. |

Tod W. Langeland, Secretary/Treasurer
Tod graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School in 1982 and received his Bachelors of Business Administration from Western Michigan University in 1987. He then entered the US Army as an officer, serving in Korea and Georgia. He graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1994. Tod is a member of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association, Western Michigan University ROTC Alumni Association, and the Association of the United States Army. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Senior Services, Inc. Tod lives in Kalamazoo with his wife, Reneé and their two beagles, Jooks and Toby. |

Lisa M. Langeland Baas, Administrator/ Apprentice Funeral Director
Lisa is a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School, Class of 1990. She began her career at Langeland's in June of 1990, working as the Accounting Assistant and Office Administrator. She is currently a student pursuing her career in Mortuary Science. A member of Third Reformed Church, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Rob and 2 children, Shelby and Dylan. She also enjoys gardening, boating, sewing and painting. |

Harold C. Langeland, Licensed Funeral Director
Graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School, attended Western Michigan University, graduated from Wayne State College of Mortuary Science. Served with the U.S. Army of Occupation in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Member of VFW #6252 and Jos. B. Westnedge Post #36 of the American Legion; Member, Michigan Funeral Directors Association; Member, Third Reformed Church. Harold enjoys funeral home planning and design, as well as residential plan drafting. He has been active in Faith in Action Mission Trips. Harold is the father of Howard Langeland, Daniel Langeland, Rosemary Chilvere and Brenda Robert; three stepsons, John, James and Thomas Bennett. Harold was widowed in 1999. In May of 2003, he married the former Rose Marie LaFountain (Stanislav). They reside in Cooper Twp. and enjoy traveling in their motor home. |

Dann A. Klaassen, Co-Manager of Funeral Service Operations
Born and raised in Grand Haven, MI, Dann graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1970. A graduate of Muskegon Community College he moved to Kalamazoo and began working with Langeland's in 1974. He attended Western Michigan University, and was a 1977 graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science. A long time resident of Portage, he has been involved in many community organizations and events. Member and Elder of Southridge Reformed Church and a member of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association. Dann is married to Sharon and they have two children, Jodi and Matthew and their best friend, Buster the Bichon. |

Donald D.Smith, Co-Manager of Funeral Service Operations
Don graduated from Hillsdale High School, Hillsdale, Michigan in 1963 and came to Kalamazoo to attend Western Michigan University. He began his funeral directing career at Langeland Chapels in 1964. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era, he was honorably discharged and graduated from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science. He is married to Marsha. They have 4 daughters, Lynette, Nicole, Jennifer and Christy. Don and Marsha live in Texas Township. Don has been employed with Langeland Chapels for over 40 years. |

Tod S. Locey, Licensed Funeral Director
Tod was born and raised in Sturgis, Michigan and graduated from Sturgis High School in 1981. He was also a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1985; and from Western Michigan University in 1998 with a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree. Tod has been employed with Langeland's as a Licensed Funeral Director since 1985. He is a member of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association and Western Michigan University Alumni Association. Tod lives in Kalamazoo with his wife, Wendy and daughter. |

Robert C. Bucknell, Licensed Funeral Director
Bob is a 1972 graduate of Bronson High School, Bronson, Michigan. He joined the Langeland staff after graduating from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1988. Member of the Portage First United Methodist Church, Michigan Funeral Directors Association, British Institute of Embalmers, and a Reserve Police Officer with the Portage Police Department. Bob lives in Portage with his wife, Cindy. They have four children, Derek and wife Wendy, Kevin, Alex and Darcy, and one grandson. Since the early 1990’s, they have served as a host family during the Girls Softball World Series, held in Kalamazoo. The family also includes an Old English Sheepdog, Benson and two rescued cats, Misty and Tigger. Bob enjoys bowling, W.M.U. Bronco Hockey, and N.H.L. Hockey. |

Max L. Sine, Licensed Funeral Director
Max was born in Kalamazoo and raised in Barry County, Michigan. He is married to Barbara and they have two daughters, Teresa and Sara. He is a graduate of Wayne State University College of Mortuary Science and has been employed with Langeland Family Funeral Homes since 1986. Max and Barbara are members of St. Catherine Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He has played amateur hockey for 16 years. |

Jason S. Olivarez, Licensed Funeral Director
Jason attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids. He is a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science and has been a Licensed Michigan Funeral Director since 1997. Jason lives in Kalamazoo with his wife, Pamela and their children, McKenna and Jackson. |

Kenneth A. Witteveen, Licensed Funeral Director
Ken is a native of Zeeland, Michigan. He attended Western Michigan University and is a graduate of the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science. Ken has held a Michigan Funeral Director's license since 1968. Ken and his wife, Diane, have been married since 1968 and are the parents of 2 children, Jennifer Bennink and Jeremy Witteveen. They are members of Grace Christian Reformed Church. |

Greg J. Glessner, Licensed Funeral Director
Born in Ft. Wayne, IN and raised in LaOtto, IN, Greg graduated from East Noble High School in 1975 and immediately joined the United States Marine Corps, retiring after 22 years of service. His wife, Windi and their daughter, Payton, reside in Battle Creek. Greg also has 3 other children, Holly, Kyle and Scott who also live in Battle Creek. He attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, IL where he graduated in 1999 and soon became licensed thereafter. |

Paula Spencer Coleman, Licensed Funeral Director
Paula was raised in Athens, Michigan. She is a graduate of Kellogg Community College and graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1983. She is active on the Susan G. Komen Southwest Michigan Race for the Cure Committee and is involved in many school activities. She enjoys running, reading, sewing, and Trompel oil painting. Paula lives in Battle Creek with her husband, Tom, daughters Meghann, and Mallory, along with their dog Lexi. |

Roger A. Medema, Funeral Service Associate
Roger joined our staff in 1965. Roger enjoys gardening with his wife, Mary. He is a singer and sings at many of our services. He is a member of Covenant United Reformed Church. |

Kathy Nederhoed, Bereavement Care Coordinator
Kathleen is a Bereavement Care coordinator/G.R.O.W. Group Facilitator. Former experience as a teacher in elementary and adult education…dental assistant/technician…Pastoral Associate in a church parish of 2000 families…Graduate of the American Academy of Bereavement program for group facilitators…participates in continuing education by attending current seminars and workshops in topics relating to grief recovery…invited speaker for Hospital Clinical Pastoral Experience groups and W.M.U. counseling course…Board member of the Kalamazoo County Widowed Men and Women…volunteer Police Chaplain for eleven years. Basically a happy person with a husband and son who (also) give balance, joy and challenge to life. |

Robert A. Baas, Advance Funeral Planner
Rob has been with Langeland Family Funeral Homes since 2002 as a Pre-Need Family Services Consultant. He is part of the first group in Michigan to receive certification in MAPP, Michigan Advanced Planning Professionals, which is endorsed by the Michigan Funeral Directors Association. He is a 1990 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. Prior to joining Langeland’s he co-owned a local, family-owned painting company for over 12 years. He is a lifelong member of Centerpoint Church (formerly Third Reformed) and he enjoys many outdoor activities, watching movies and spending time with his wife, Lisa and two children, Shelby and Dylan. He is dedicated and honored to serve the families in our community.

Christi M. Alcumbrack, Advanced Funeral Planner
Christi is a 1998 graduate of Heritage Christian Schools. She has been with Langelands since 2006 as an Advanced Planner. Christi enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, and son, Kendall. She is an active member of Community Baptist Church and loves all the Arts such as music and photography. |

Laurie A. VanderBerg, Advanced Funeral Planner
Laurie joined Langeland Family Funeral Homes in April 2007 as a Pre-Need Family Consultant. She is a graduate of Gull Lake High School and WMU. Prior to working for Langeland Chapels, Laurie spent 16 years working as corporate manager of an engineering firm. Laurie also has worked at the Diocese of Kalamazoo and as a child guidance worker for the County. Laurie and her husband, John, have been married for 19 years and have a son James, who currently attends 4th grade. |

Linda L. McCarty, Administrative Assistant of Advance Planning
Linda has been with Langeland since June of 2006. I am a Graduate of Portage Northern High School, Class of 1969 Formerly an Upjohn/Pharmacia Quality Assurance, Analyst I (1972—2003) A student of art, studying at the Gilmore’s Art Institute and two years with the Famous Artist School located in Connecticut. I enjoy traveling, quilting and spending time with family and friends. Especially, my two cats: Mr. Lucky (15 years old) and Meling (19 years old). |

Martin Schuiteboer, Office Administrator
Graduated from Comstock High School in 1963 and attended Western Michigan University. I served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1965-1967. I began working for Langeland Funeral Homes in 2001 and prior to that was employed by an International CPA firm for 18 years and a Credit Union for 16 years. I enjoy playing the organ and play for many church services in the Kalamazoo area. My favorite hobby is lawn work and I mow my lawn 2 times a week. It is not uncommon for my wife and I to plant over 2500 annual plants a year. I live in Portage with my wife, Connie, a Registered Nurse, and have two married daughters, Lisa and Kristen and two son-in-laws, Brian and Ryan. |

Karen Schaap, Accounting Assistant
Graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School and Davenport College. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and worked in the accounting department of various companies in Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, and Bangor prior to joining the Langeland staff in November 2006. A lifetime resident of Kalamazoo, I enjoy playing softball, bowling, reading, and spending time with my family. I am also a lifetime member of Hope Reformed Church and am involved in many aspects of our church community.
